Organizations

Belong to more than one organization, create another one, switch between them, and follow links into the right one.

Everything in Prodgator belongs to an organization: pipelines, gates, policies, security findings, notifications, API keys and billing. One account can belong to several organizations, for example when you work for more than one business.

Switching organizations

The organization you are working in is shown next to the logo at the top of every page. Select it to see your other organizations and your role in each, then choose one to switch. The page reloads in the new organization and opens the dashboard.

Prodgator opens in the organization you used last. All your open tabs show the same organization: when you switch in one tab, the others switch too. Data from one organization is never shown or combined with another's. If one organization's directory removes you, you are signed out of all your organizations; sign in again to keep using the others (Directory sync).

Some organizations require single sign-on or two-factor authentication. Switching to one of them may ask you to sign in again with that organization's method.

Links in emails, Slack messages, webhooks and GitHub checks name the organization they belong to. If you open one while working in a different organization, Prodgator asks whether to switch. If the link belongs to an organization you are not a member of, Prodgator says so and opens the page in your current organization.

Creating another organization

Select the organization name at the top of the page, then choose Create organization. Enter a name and, if you like, your email domain, then select Create Organization. You become the new organization's Org admin, it starts on the Free plan, and Prodgator switches to it.

Each person can create up to 10 organizations. Organizations you joined by invitation do not count toward this, and an organization you created still counts after you leave it. If you need more, contact support at hello@prodgator.io and we can raise your limit.

Organization details

Org admins find the organization's name, ID, domains, creation date and setup checklist in Organization > General, and rename the organization there.

Default language

Organization > General also has the organization's Default language. Everyone in the organization can see it; only Org admins can change it.

  • Members who have not chosen a language in Profile > Preferences see Prodgator in the default language. Choosing a language there overrides it for that person.
  • With no default language (Not set (English)), those members see Prodgator in their browser's language when Prodgator offers it, and in English otherwise.
  • Slack channel posts are written in the default language. Members' emails and Slack direct messages use the recipient's own language, else the default.
  • Outgoing webhooks carry a field, and their human-readable text uses the default language. Codes and ids do not change.
  • Pull request comments, check run output, commit status descriptions and approval comments that Prodgator posts on your provider use the default language. Check names, status keys, comment markers and policy names never change. After you change the default, the existing comment is rewritten in place on the next evaluation; nothing is backfilled.
  • Shared AI results (failure explanations, release risk summaries, security triage) are written in the default language and translated for people who use another. See Languages.
  • A new organization created by someone using Prodgator in a language other than English starts with that language as its default. Otherwise it starts with no default.

Changes are recorded in the audit log.

Joining another organization

An Org admin of the other organization invites you by email (Organization > Invitations). Accept the invitation with the same account you already use. The role the Org admin chose applies the first time you open that organization.

Your settings in each organization

Your role, profile details and preferences (theme, language, notification channels) are kept per organization. Changing them in one organization does not change them in another.

Plans and contributors

Each organization has its own plan and its own active contributor count. If you belong to two organizations, your work counts in each organization where you open or push to pull requests or start pipeline runs. Organizations never share or combine counts.
